City breaks are becoming one of my favourite things to do, it’s so much fun being able to explore a city in a few days and then head home. The perfect kind of break, especially whilst studying. My boyfriend and I recently went to Paris for four days and I have to admit, I loved it so much there.
The hotel we stayed in was really well located, it was a half hour metro journey from the Eurostar and only about a 15 minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower and many other sites. The hotel was lush too, had the most amazing shower and the bed was super comfy.
The first day we went towards the Eiffel tower, we didn’t bother going up it as we’d been told by some other people the Arc de Triomphe was the better one to go up, but we walked around the park and took some pictures before heading for a dinner on the river. This was such a good find on Trip Advisor, and it was £41 each for a three course meal on the river Seine. We really enjoyed this and the staff were super lovely, food was even more amazing and we were sat right at the front (all the seats face outwards so you’re sat next to your partner rather than opposite). We also got a half bottle of wine included in the price and it was so worth the money.
The next day we were supposed to go to Disneyland but we overslept (the bed was that comfy) so we did other touristy things instead. We headed to the Arc de Triomphe and climbed up to the terrace (there’s a lot of stairs), then we got lunch at a restaurant near by before walking towards the Paris needle. Our friend who lives in Paris arranged to meet us that evening so we headed toward the Louvre before meeting her by the opera. She took us to a nice small bar before showing us around the area a bit, we saw the cathedral on the hill which has amazing views of Paris. She showed us the cobbled streets that are always shown in films, as well as the Moulin Rouge. Then she took us to a restaurant near where she lives which had the best pasta. Wilf was a bit concerned over being allowed to put which ever sauce with which ever pasta because in Italy where we spend a lot of time, thats a big no no.
We finally made it to Disneyland the next day which was amazing and I obviously brought some Minnie Mouse ears and we went on some rides. One ride we discovered a bit too late had a massive loop in the middle which neither of us were too keen on finding out.
Paris was such a nice little get away which we both needed so much and didn’t want to come back. We’ve already started planning our next get away as well as a bigger holiday for next year after I graduate.
